Hi, I’m Adam Nerva. I’m a cockney lad who left London as a young man in search of adventure, and I found it. I have had some great jobs, all of which involved helping people to reach their potential. My second favorite of them was trail hiking guide, which I still do. However, some of these great jobs came with terrible bosses! This led me to an intense exploration of leadership. Why do some people thrive while others flounder? What are the skills and qualifications that a person needs in order to do well in any environment? I found that it wasn’t about having the right degree, the best parents or the most contacts. It comes down to self-knowledge, and the pursuit of self-mastery. Qualifying as a Lumina Learning practitioner gave me some powerful tools to coach people on this journey. That is my favorite job.
Life coaching is often confused with therapy or motivational speaking, but they serve different purposes. Motivational speakers can uplift and inspire, but they don’t engage with you on a personal level. They share their insights and experiences but rarely accompany you on your unique journey to change.
Therapists are trained to help you navigate your past and current challenges. In contrast, a life coach focuses on your future goals and the steps to achieve them. While both therapy and coaching can be independently beneficial, together they can create a powerful synergy that propels you toward success in both personal and professional domains.
Based on my experiences and the feedback from my clients, I’ve developed a coaching approach that resonates particularly well with men. While I'm equipped to coach women as well, my strengths lie in empowering men to thrive—not just in professional settings, but also in their roles as fathers, husbands, and leaders in their communities.
In today’s fast-paced world, the pressures on men can be overwhelming. Work, relationships, health, family, and finances all demand our attention, and with the rise of technology, the tools designed to make life easier often seem to push us further from our true goals. Good men naturally strive to raise their game, but the voices and messages in society today can be confusing and misleading.
